Hi, my name is Whitney. I take planar magnetic (also called orthodynamic or “ortho” for short) headphones made by other companies and modify them to make them sound better.

I have been doing this for over 15 years, starting with vintage orthos made in 1978. The basic problem is that companies focus mostly on driver development and not enough on the acoustic environment the driver is put into, and the acoustic environment is especially important with planar magnetic drivers to bring out the best sound in the driver and create the final tuning and general sound of the headphone. My goal is to find the planar magnetic headphones with the best drivers on the market, modify them by fixing the acoustic environment in these headphones to let the drivers shine, and tune the response to a natural, neutral balance with the best technical performance possible.
