This is a page for deals on completed rhythmdevils audio orthos. I will put various orthos here for sale, sometimes I will mod a brand new or used pair and you can get one ahead of the waiting list. Other times I will have a pair that in stock form had unit variation and a different FR so I had to implement unique mods, i may put experimental modded headphones here that I don't feel hit my targets exactly but would be great for the right preferences. Or B stock headphones that will be explained for each case.

All headphones come with my full warranty, certificate of authenticity, an extra set of earpads with double sided adhesive rings and instructions, and you can return them within 15 days of purchase if you are not satisfied for a full refund minus shipping costs.

Additionally, trusted members of the headphone community can borrow them before purchasing to listen and return them if they are not what they're looking for. Shipping is paid for by buyer.

Contact me to purchase a headphone listed here and I'll send you a custom invoice.

N = brand new or used modified ortho with all accessories
V = this pair deviated from the usual FR in stock form and so needed unique mods
E = Experimental mod that did not meet my targets but is still a great headphone
B = B stock for whatever reason (I'll explain on a case by case basis)

Audeze LCD-3 in E Stock

Probably the only one I will ever mod. It is open back like my RD-X. It sounds better than the stock LCD-3 in every way except I could not get enough sub bass quantity out of them. I spent hundreds of dollars on custom leather earpads trying to find a solution but have given up on the model. But for the right preferences, these are great headphones. Despite everyone thinking orthos are about "thick bass" they are not, they are about speed while maintaining a sense of weight and body, resolution, accurate timbre and tone.

Modifications for this pair are free. Price is the cost of the used LCD-3 plus $75 for the open grills. Total is $1,075 plus shipping

RD-X in E+V Stock

These have my mkII mods which I tried on this pair of LCD-X. My mkII mod changes the mesh covering the front of the driver. Stock, they come with a metal mesh over the front of the driver that lets about 50% of the air through. After a lot of experimenting I found a material that lets almost all air through, but still protects the driver from dust and debris. This new material lets through much more detail and subtle nuances in the music. See the third picture to see the difference in the transparency of this material compared to stock. In person you can actually see the driver traces through my MKII front mesh. But it didn't work with the LCD-X because it also damps the driver less and I couldn't get quite as much lower bass quantity as I would like.

This pair started out brand new from Audeze but sounded a bit slower and less snappy and resolving than other pairs I've heard. But the new mkII front driver mesh compensates for this. So the end result is an RD-X with slightly less lower bass quantity than my target or my other pairs of RD-X.

The modifications for this pair are free. Price is the cost of a new LCD-X (from Audeze's website with taxes) plus $75 for the open back grills. Total is $1,375 plus shipping
