Stock
The stock Letshuoer S12 iem is bass light, and thin with an upward tilting frequency response and exaggerated treble. But beyond this, I heard great potential in the driver in its timbre, transient response and resolution.

The Mod
I open them up and change the damping on the rear of the driver as well as drill tiny holes into the rear of the enclosure to change how the enclosure vents the sound pressure created by the movement of the driver. Both of these modifications change the way the diaphragm moves and thus changes every aspect of the sound including resolution, openness, transparency, speed, dynamics and frequency response. After many experiments I have come up with a modification that completely transforms them from stock and makes them near perfect iems.

The Sound
The result is an absolutely neutral iem, no bumps or peaks from bass to treble. They have endless extension on both ends of the spectrum, tight, thunderous, punchy, layered bass, a gorgeous, upfront vocal range that is never recessed but also never forward or harsh, and clear, airy, peak free treble.

They have extremely fast transients and great resolving ability unlike any iem I have heard. My modified venting system and new driver damping not only fixes the frequency response but also allows the diaphragm to move more freely and faster which gives them more air, openness, resolves more detail and allows the driver more excursion for much better bass response than stock which confines the driver into a higher pressure more closed enclosure.

Accessories
All of my modded iems include a beautiful sounding OCC copper cable with great ergonomics and flexibility in either 3.5mm or 4.4mm connection, and an iem case (see pictures). When you buy a new pair of RDi-12's from me, I also include the stock case, stock tips and stock 3.5mm cable. If you have a pair of iems that you would like modded, you can send them to me for modification at a discounted price that still includes the new cable and case. I don't offer my mods without these accessories.

Gear Synergy
My RD-S12 scales really well but also sound great out of an iPod. But the better amp and DAC you put behind them the better they will sound. If you have a TOTL rig that is quiet enough, you will hear everything that rig is capable of. They are capable of sounding like TOTL headphones only held back by the form factor of being in your ears. In my system, they are great out of an iPod even with compressed music, better out of my Yggdrasil and Vali 2+, and even better out of quiet desktop tube amps like the Eddie Current Aficianado, Studio B, Zana Deux Super, DNA Stratus, Stellaris, Aegis, Drop. TA-84 and more. Out of these amps they sound like TOTL full size orthos inside your ears.

The only area where I feel other iems can be better is in soundstage size, where some BA iems have bigger soundstage but at the cost of coherency, correct timbre, and resolution.

Eartips
The eartips used always have a big impact on the sound. I tuned these using Azla Cystal silicone eartips available here. I wish I could include a set with my modification, but they are very expensive tips and a full set of all sizes would add $100 to the cost of the mod, so I would rather leave it up to you to buy only the size that fits you. But they are highly recommended. They not only sound great but they keep the iems in your ears better than any tips I have used.

Note: Due to the nature of this modification and doing it by hand rather than fabricating an enclosure from scratch, I cannot guarantee perfectly even or perfectly clean holes in the back of the iems. I use a drill press to do the best I possibly can, but in the end, it is a handmade modification and on close inspection you will find small imperfections. It is absolutely worth it for the sound though and you won't notice unless closely inspecting. Surely no one else will notice.

Waiting List
Instead of a shopping cart, I have a waiting list which you can join. It is non committal. I will email you when your name comes up and you can go ahead with an order or not. I do this to ensure that I don't accept too many orders to handle because it's just me and a friend doing this all by hand. This way I only take payment on iems I finished modifying and no one ever gets left paying and waiting endlessly for modifications.

Please read my Warranty Policy before ordering.

Shipping
Prices don't include shipping. Buyer pays actual shipping costs. Orders in the Continental United States ship ground. Everywhere else ships airmail.
